When situations change rapidly, local and family-owned businesses often have a big advantage. Unlike large national chains that have to work through a cumbersome chain of command, a well-run family-owned enterprise can use its tight-knit team structure to its advantage.
At Budget Uniform Supply, relationships with our customers are built on three-generations of local and family-owned leadership and pride and that has always served us well. But over the past few months, the value of those relationships has become even more apparent.
As difficult as the pandemic has been, when you are part of the same community that you serve, the idea that you’re all in it together is much more than a call to action. It’s a genuine connection. And we were able to act on that connection with an agility and urgency that could never have happened without a CEO who is right here, day after day, and available to every customer and team member.
That allowed us to adopt new processes and safety measures almost immediately – for our customers and our team – while also staying in close communication with both.
Making Investments in Safety for Employees and Customers
Investments in the safety of our employees and customers was more than a business decision at Budget. It was personal. That’s why we were one of the first in our industry to adopt ultraviolet (UV) light technology to clean and sanitize trucks. UV technology was also employed in Budget’s HVAC system to provide purified air in the offices.
This state-of-the art technology harvests the power of UV-C light for antiviral sanitation.
Budget uses a combination of vaporized hydrogen peroxide fogging and UVC lamps to perform regular sanitation of our trucks and equipment. Offices are cleaned twice a day. Social distancing and personal protection gear are used to ensure that employees feel safe and protected.
“We don’t have to go through layers of leadership to make changes,” said Budget Sales Manager Jose Sanchez. “It’s not about ‘It’s not in our budget’ or ‘We have to talk to corporate.’ We are putting customers first and being responsive. We treat our customers like family. You want to keep your family safe.”
