At Budget Uniform Rental, our commitment to customer service and community involvement goes back 60 years.
But when it comes to technology, we’re a forward-looking company, committed to implementing the best available system in the industry. Our customers rely on us so that their employees can go to work every day looking and feeling good in a uniform designed to work as hard as they do. They rely on us for a work uniform rental program that they never have to think about.
That’s why, beginning this month, we’re upgrading our tracking and sorting process to a system that will, when implemented, track and sort uniforms faster and more accurately, using 900 MHz ultra high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) tags to track garments from intake through bundling.
UHF RFID Tags for Faster, More Accurate Uniform Processing
The UHF RFID tags are embedded in garment tags that will replace the bar codes now used to track and sort our rental garments.
UHF tags utilize radio waves and can be read from up to 10 feet away – anywhere in the field generated by an antenna. This provides the ability to read multiple garments at a time at a much higher speed, virtually eliminating any possibility of garments being misplaced or mis-bundled.
The UHF tags are not energized – they are flexible, passive tags sewn into a small patch in the waistband of pants and in the lower front placket of shirts. The patches have been designed for maximum comfort and include our new logo for the Budget Account Control (BAC) system.
The process of tagging all of our garments is going to take some time. But after its implementation, we will have the most efficient and accurate tracking and sorting system available in the industry.
